Man Charged In Bloomington DWI Crash

  • Uncategorized

A tragic collision in Bloomington has resulted in criminal charges against a man accused of driving under the influence. According to authorities, 32-year-old Dior Cortez Wheeler faces two counts of criminal vehicular homicide and two counts of criminal vehicular operation in connection with a deadly crash that occurred in April. Each count specifies that Wheeler was allegedly impaired at the time of the incident—a reminder of the serious consequences that can follow impaired driving. In situations like this, individuals facing similar allegations often seek guidance from our Bloomington, MN DWI lawyers to understand their rights and build a strong legal defense.

The crash took place near the intersection of 86th Street East and Old Cedar Avenue in Bloomington. When first responders arrived, they discovered a Ford Fusion engulfed in flames and a Toyota Sienna minivan with airbags deployed. Tragically, Wheeler’s passenger was killed in the collision. Authorities suspect alcohol impairment played a role, and Wheeler has since been charged with multiple counts of vehicular homicide and operation.

Law enforcement continues to search for Wheeler, whose current whereabouts remain unknown. The criminal complaint indicates that he was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, which led to the fatal outcome. Cases like this highlight the life-altering impact that impaired driving can have—not only for victims and families but also for those accused of driving under the influence.

In Minnesota, charges related to driving while impaired can carry severe penalties, including lengthy prison sentences, heavy fines, and long-term license revocation. These consequences underscore the importance of having skilled legal representation from our Bloomington DWI attorneys, especially in cases involving accidents, injuries, or fatalities.

We’re Here To Help Those Involved In DWI Cases

At Archambault Criminal Defense, we recognize that every DWI charge deserves careful attention and a tailored defense. Our experienced DUI lawyers understand that the facts of every case are unique. Whether a client is accused of driving under the influence for the first time or is facing felony-level charges following a crash, our goal is to make sure that their constitutional rights are protected at every stage of the process.

In many DWI cases, evidence such as field sobriety tests, breathalyzer results, and officer observations can be challenged. Improper testing procedures, faulty equipment, or lack of probable cause may significantly weaken the prosecution’s case. As seasoned drunk driving lawyers, we evaluate every piece of evidence to identify opportunities for dismissal or reduction of charges.

For individuals accused of causing an accident while impaired, the stakes are even higher. Prosecutors often pursue aggressive penalties, including prison time and permanent criminal records. Having our experienced intoxicated driver lawyers on your side can make a meaningful difference in the outcome of the case. Our team understands how to negotiate with prosecutors and present strong defenses that take into account all mitigating factors.

If you or someone you know is facing DWI charges, it’s essential to act quickly. Legal guidance from our Bloomington DWI lawyers can help you protect your future, challenge questionable evidence, and seek the most favorable resolution possible. About Me

I never expected to be called to work in criminal defense.  For many years I found work as a prosecutor fulfilling.  But over time that changed.  Rather than making a difference, I was a cog in the machine.  Cases stopped feeling like people and became names on paper.   And I realized that often the true difference makers in the system are the defense attorneys.

I founded Archambault Criminal Defense because I want to use my skills to help people.  Because I want my cases to be about people and not just names on paper.  Because I know I have unique expertise and experience that can truly help people move forward and get on with their lives.
